Their leisure time, true to Muir tradition, has been spent on the water and they own the Roberts-design 47-foot yacht, Shonandra which competed in the 1987 and 1989 Sydney-Gold Coast classic and in which Jock went along as honorary sailing master. Shonandra is named from John and Wendy's daughters, Shona and Alexandra, both of whom are adept crew members. Lynette (nee Muir) and her husband Wayne Denehey, of Hobart, have three children, Michael, Lisa and Louise, all of whom have been introduced to sailing.
A 1986 drawing by Jock Muir of Irazu, still show the steadiness of the hand at the age of 72. The original drawings dimensions are are 87 cms x 87 cms. The Irazu was designed by John Wilson of Cygnet, Tasmania, in 1884.
